What a View!

Wouldn't you just love to wake up to this view every morning. We took this picture from our balcony this morning. You can see the Pacific Ocean off in the background.

Relaxing

We could certainly get used to this lounging on the beach! Tuesday was a beautiful day on Maui. We sat on the beach for awhile in the morning and then went into Lahaina to do some shopping and then back to the beach. Out for dinner at a near by resturant to celebrate the maid of honors birthday.

Picking up the Rental Car

Kaycee was pretty excited as we picked up the rental car. In this photo you can see that she is grinning from ear to ear.

Arriving in Maui

Arriving in Maui we each received a beautiful flower lei. This photos shows the Hawaiians holding the signs looking for the people that were to get the lei.

Early Rising

There wasn't much sleep on Sunday night as we had to get up at 2:30 a.m. to catch the 5 a.m. flight out of Fargo on Monday morning. There were eight of us going to the wedding that left from Fargo. We were thinking that we should give you a little background about why Kaycee and I are going to this wedding. Shelby and Kaycee were roommates when Kaycee first moved to the Fargo area. Kaycee and my son, Shane shared a house in Moorhead with Shelby and her brother, Jeremy. It could have have a great sitcom...Two Guys and Their Sister! Kaycee and Shelby continue to be very good friends.


Once in Minneapolis about six more wedding goers joined us. We had about an hour layover and then caught a flight to Salt Lake City. When the flight attendance heard about Shelby and Chad's wedding fiasco, she announced, over the intercom, that Shelby and Chad were headed to Maui to get married after changing all their wedding plans in the last three days! One of the flight attendants made them hand shaken drinks to celebrate.

In Salt Lake City we had about a two hour layover and then we were off on the 6 hour and 20 minute flight to Maui. The time actually went pretty fast as we each had small tv screens in front of us and we could watch a variety of TV shows or movies or listen to music. We arrived in Maui about 2:30 p.m. Hawaiian time. That is 7:30 p.m. North Dakota time. As we are writing this blog we have been up over 24 hours.

Getting Ready

Sunday was spent getting packed and washing clothes in order to catch the early morning flight on Monday. Kaycee decided that she needed flip flops to match each of her outfits, so off to Old Navy we went to get the three colors that she didn't have! The photo shows how color coordinated she is!

Off Again!

Kaycee and Linda are getting ready to attend Shelby and Chad's wedding. It started out as a destination wedding at Riviera Maya, Mexico. But with the H1N1 flu scare the destination was changed, first to Jamaica, then Vegas and now Maui! We are leaving Monday, May 4 and returning Monday, May 11. Linda never thought she would be spending Mother's Day in Hawaii!!

We will be staying in condos at the Aston Kaanapali Shores near Lahaina. We haven't heard our departure time yet, but hope to know that before Monday morning.

We are looking forward to traveling together and sharing out trip with you.
